Because of their continuous losses, farmers tend to give it up, which has an adverse impact on shrimp hatcheries, manufacturers and importers of shrimp feed, suppliers of inputs and other equipment required for shrimp farming, and aquaculture workers worldwide.

After conducting a detailed study on this issue, it was discovered that many farmers closely monitor shrimp growth rates in their farm ponds every week. However, they need more means to analyze the production costs associated with the weekly growth of shrimp. As a result, these farmers will be aware of the financial status of their farm once the entire crop is fully harvested from the pond. This situation poses a significant challenge to the whole shrimp farming industry. Additionally, they require assistance in evaluating their other weekly expenses in conjunction with shrimp growth, which is crucial to understanding their ponds’ financial progress and their farm’s financial trajectory on a week-to-week basis. To tackle this challenge, a group of experts from leading sustainable shrimp farming countries collaborated to develop the “Speed Shrimp” mobile app. The primary goal of this initiative was to safeguard the industry from collapse by aiding farmers in maintaining stable and secure farming practices. The “Speed Shrimp” app is a smartphone application encompassing research findings, best practices, guidelines, and practical solutions for enhancing and sustaining shrimp farming.
